Hicham Amaaou was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco as the oldest of three boys. Describing his childhood as a “perfect family,” there was a heavy emphasis on education and athletics. The example of excellence and drive was laced with a tremendous amount of love, affection, and good values. The family traveled extensively, where he immersed himself in various cultures, eventually mastering five languages.
Inspired by his parent’s numerous accomplishments both academically and athletically, Hicham was driven to succeed.
Wanderlust, instilled by his upbringing, brought him to the United States. After earning a degree in computer engineering, he proceeded to travel about the west coast and eventually finding his way to the East Coast and settling in Connecticut.
Soon enough, hotelier and restauranteur Charles Mallory and Rick Wahlstedt brought him to Artisan Restaurant. Promptly rising up the ranks to General Manager, Hicham discovered his passion for the hospitality industry.
Hicham’s philosophy is simple; he views Artisan as his home, the staff as his family, and the patrons as guests.
Hicham expects all of Artisan staff members to embrace and practice his hospitality principles.
